Row House Renovation

This row house renovation in Hudson County thoughtfully balances preservation and modernization, transforming the historic corner property into a light-filled, contemporary home. Dating back to 1908, the original, centrally located curved staircase was carefully preserved, serving as both an architectural anchor and an enduring reminder of the home’s early craftsmanship.

The reconfigured plan places the kitchen at the heart of daily life. A modern waterfall-edge island introduces a crisp counterpoint to the traditional shell, while a restrained black-and-white palette reinforces clarity and cohesion. The open floor plan enhances flow between living, dining, and kitchen spaces, allowing natural light from the corner exposure to move freely throughout.

Upstairs, the primary suite was redesigned as a calm, restorative retreat. An all-white bedroom transitions seamlessly into a newly configured master bath, where clean lines and a monochromatic palette create a sense of quiet refinement. Subtle contrasts and tailored detailing add depth while maintaining the home’s minimal character.

Together, preserved architectural elements and modern insertions create a balanced composition of heritage and refinement.
