House on the Ridge
Designed with balance and clarity in mind, House on the Ridge is organized around a series of carefully articulated volumes. A defining move was the creation of a fully detached garage, pulled away from the main house to improve proportion, enhance daylight, and allow the architecture to breathe. The resulting composition feels composed and contemporary—rooted in tradition yet confidently modern.
From the garden, the home reveals a quiet symmetry and strength. Twin gables frame a central chimney, while a covered terrace below extends the living room into the landscape. Anchored by a dual-sided fireplace, this outdoor space reinforces the connection between interior and exterior, creating a natural setting for both gathering and retreat.
Clad in authentic cement stucco, the architecture gains depth and texture that soften the home’s simple massing. The material lends an old-world richness while maintaining a refined, contemporary presence—adding warmth, shadow, and subtle variation throughout the day. As evening light washes across the terrace, the double-sided fireplace becomes a focal point, illuminating the details that bring the space to life.
Together, the architecture and material palette strike a thoughtful balance of refinement and ease, resulting in a home equally suited for quiet mornings, lively gatherings, and enduring presence.
